It is a highly professional collective of 34 virtuoso musicians. The art director and principal conductor is Merited Artist of Russia Vladimir POPOV. The orchestra has wide popularity in St. Petersburg, other cities of Russia and abroad. It performs on the best stages of St. Petersburg – Grand and Small Halls of St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic, State Academic Chapel, Concert Hall near Finlyandsky Railway Station, performance venues of different cultural centres in St. Petersburg. The sounding of the Russian Concert Orchestra is rich in various means of musical expression; it is full of the Russian prowess, zeal, reckless merriment and humour. The orchestra closely collaborates with popular singers performing arias from operas and operettas, romances, Neapolitan, Russian, Ukrainian songs, the leading soloists of opera and music theatres, concert organizations of St. Petersburg (Mariinsky Theatre, Musical Comedy Theatre, Musical Theatre “Zazerkalye”, State Concert and Philharmonic Institution “Petersburg-Concert” and others). The orchestra has prepared remarkable concert programmes with famous dance groups “Barynya” and “Petersburg Souvenir” (from 6 to 26 dancers). The repertoire of the orchestra is quite rich and diverse. It includes Russian folk melodies and songs in concert versions by Gorodovskaya, Shalov, Tikhonov, Kuznetsov, Andreev, Shirokov, Budashkin, as well as works by Russian and foreign composers (Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Glinka, Rachmaninov, Sviridov, Shostakovich, Tsygankov, A. Petrov , V. Bibergan, I. Tsvetkov, Schumann, Dvorak, Liszt, Sibelius, Strauss, P. de Luna, Milhaud, Jiménez, and others).
